Hols are HERE!

YAY!!! finally exams r over omg can't believe that it's over & manz tink I really need a longgg slp.. been out everyday since ~ whole day out + late nights + world cup

Tue: Last paper is Physio Prac early in the morning and my partner and I were in the 1st shift. Had massage, gait aid, posture analysis and conducted an interview with the examiner acting as the patient. Think everything turned out ok except that the examiner said that the crutches that I measured was too short but my partner said the height was fine?!? So think she’s going to seriously penalize me for it.

Shopping at Smith St in the afternoon. It’s the place where all the sports factory outlets are but didn't see anything nice; looking for a pair of nice sneakers :)

Wed: Bridge Rd - hahaz my fav shopping haunt but we only managed to cover the shops on 1 side of the rd! We’re always lamenting abt the shops in Melb closing around 5-6pm.. hmm missed late night shopping in Spore =p

Thur:
played Tennis; visited Melb Museum which is the long glass building which was just beside my exam venue REB! Felt like a tourist again :P The area was so big that we didn't manage to cover everything on both wings. There were exhibits & specimens on dinosaurs, animals, insects, human anatomy, virtual reality & etc. which made me feel like I'm in a Science Centre instead! There's also an IMAX theatre (like the Omnimax theatre in Spore) and this forest with waterfall in the open area in the middle of the building which we didn't manage to cover also. Surprisingly, we didn't come across any on the history of Aus or think we subconsciously gave it a miss. =P

Fri: shopping at Windsvale; DFO [Direct Factory Outlet]; city
I'm finally shopping out of the city in the suburbs! Windsvale (not really sure of the name :P) is this really BIG shopping centre which we had accidentally come across by taking the bus in the wrong direction. It had practically everything - from shopping to supermkts to departmental stores & so on... e.g. Myers; K-mart; Coles; Safeway; Big W. We spent our morning shopping inside then decided it's time to go to DFO where the factory outlets for many famous brands are supposedly there! It's beside this runway of a small airport and was really situated entirely away from civilisation. The same thing again: they close at 6pm & didn’t manage to cover all shops! :(

Sat: back to shopping at Bridge Rd =P; baking oatmeal cookies in the middle of the nite till 3.30am!
Dawn wanted to bake cookies for her bro to bring back for her parents to show that she’s in fact capable of domestic work. Could only started borrowing the apartment in IH to use the oven when vong came back at only ~ 12.30am. She suddenly realized that she didn’t get butter! It’s so hilarious. We were practically knocking on doors and calling pple up in IH to borrow butter in the middle of the night. It almost came to the extent that we had to walk down to Coles which is like so damn far away. Fortunately, at the last minute, we found butter and almonds from an apartment. Need almond extract but could only make do with almonds and decided to pound them up and mix it with the dough so that hopefully there’s some taste. Baked several batches of cookies and at least they got better with every try; from soft & pancake-like cookies to hard round oatmeal cookies.

Sun:
moved to this hse in Brunswick (a suburb somewhere further down from the city)
Arghz had so much trouble with this hse. We rented from Jason’s frens who were flying back home during hols. Niwae, problems keep coming up as we try to fix our internet connection and there’s no heater in the hse. Moreover, now is WINTER! For the past few nights, I remembered curling up and wrapping myself up snugly in my quilt, sleeping with my gloves, socks and 2 layers of clothes on. Couldn’t bear to move much around during my sleep though it’s a queen size bed. =P

Mon: Paintball!!! The ultimate fun though sustained several huge bruises. Phew! Got into a car accident on the way back. More details soon~

This 1st wk of hols while still living in IH till I moved out had been so busy and packed. The same goes for my 2nd wk of hols. Felt like I’m constantly on the move as Sook and I brought quilt and pillow to sleep for a few nights at Allen’s apartment to watch World Cup. The TV in the hse is soooo small and it’s in Jason’s room coz the living room is converted to a bedroom. We saw small cockroaches in the kitchen too. Heez think the kitchen’s not that clean so we only used it once to cook lunch and had been using Allen and Hao Ern’s kitchen. For the past few consecutive days, we had been grocery shopping and eating home-cooked meals :) shall post pics up soon. Moreover, I went back to Bridge Rd, Windsvale, DFO yesterday again. This time round, I did buy several stuff instead of window-shopping most of the time.

Wonder if I’m getting any real breaks from this hols with so many things ongoing and activities that we wanted to do. But looking forward to going Sydney next wk [finally! heez since didn’t manage to go during Easter break] and the farmstay at Amy’s place straight after!
p.s. Argentina lost :(

crapping away~DumpLing

eating dumpling now...though just had dinner and even went for a 2nd serving. bought the dumpling a few days ago and suddenly remembered that it's still in the fridge. tink dumplings r really rare here. heez only knew that the Dumpling festival had already been over for quite some time. According to my fren, the dumplings were sold at a much lower price when we saw it at the Asian supermkt. It's only half-eaten but it's making me so full now. Really like the glutinous rice. Suddenly missed lo mai kai too - the one with glutinous rice and chicken.

The weird thing is that this dumpling is called xian2 rou4 zong4 but I can't see and taste any solid pieces of meat! It's more of soya beans everywhere and completely not salty at all. What a misleading name. maybe I should stop eating it already; should stop eating that much too. At yesterday's party in our tutor's room, we realised that she had a weighing scale in her own bathroom and soon after, all of us started weighing themselves. Result: I've gained 3kg!?! & I'm definitely not the only one! a few of them who'll be going back spore were complaining that it would be even harder for them to lose the extra pounds back at home - if they r going to eat all the local delicacies that they've missed for mths! haha yup true.

oh manz I've finished the dumpling already [not intentionally but subconsciously!]. A full stomach's starting to make me feel sleepy. Feeling bored & no mood to study but guess will have to psycho myself to after not touching them for e past 2 or 3 days...

3 down

[finally] I'm done with this week..the 3 big hurdles - the 3 stressing papers. not done yet~2 more pracs to go hence ending much later than the meds but will be starting nex sem 1 wk earlier similar to them too. =( to be exact I would have less than a mth's hol.
supposed to be excited and ecstatic about finishing the papers hmm but seems like I'm not. hated this feeling. the emptiness and uncertainty and frustration.

Time simply flies. I couldn't believe that I had just went through 1 academic semester and having exams now. Uni is really diff from the usual school times when we wore our uniforms to school. There was definitely so much lesser tests to study for. Come to think of it - I'd rather had more mid-sem tests ..or rather for physio course. There was only mid-sem tests for biomed science. At least they'll spur me to and make me do revision. It seems like I had so much lesser "personal" time for myself to study or do my work here.
There's just so much to cover. and yes I did cover finish them~partly due to motivation from getting up early to catch breakfast to get choc bars! [hahaz coz during swot vac: the 1wk study break, they have milo or snickers in the dining hall for us to take in the morning]

The point is just didn't know if I've "digested" all the stuff. felt kinda stressed seeing some of the meds/dents studying so hard for biomed that I actually did like them brought up dinner to eat in my room for the past 3 consecutive nights.
I knew that I was trying at times to find back my momentum for exams. part of cons of a 1 year break? felt as if just couldn't get my mind to think logically & identify the key points to ans properly. but I do know the stuff and content! arghzzz

Our exams for papers were held in REB- Royal Exhibition Building. For my 1st paper, I shared cab with a few others to go there for my first time. It's actually rather near & only 2 streets down from the uni. heez but in fact it's cheaper after splitting the taxi fare as compared to taking tram there. My goodness! the place is so freaking nice!!! It's one of the world's oldest exhibition pavilion and has really nice and intricate victorian style designs and features. A tall big dome in the centre of the huge building and the various lovely fountains surrounding it make it seem soooo untypical of an exam venue. The melbourne museum was juz beside it - & it's nice too! It was in fact a contrast to the older building style from REB - a totally comtemporary glass building by itself. shall visit it one day soon =)
It was a freezing misty Monday afternoon and it suddenly hit me that the winter season is here! and I haven shopped and buy any thick coat~yet. yes that's gonna be one of my task for tmlo. looking forward to a mini party by our (IH) biomed tutor in her room tmlo nite too. all for a temporary relief from exam first =P

Didn't expect the place to be so cold inside the REB. It seems like there's no heater inside at all! My hands started to shiver slightly in the midst of the paper. It's terrible; together with the need to control my bladder which of no reason and shouldn't be full! A terrible horrible stupid mistake was made. I'm NOT ever going to mix up or forget what happens during regeneration and repair. the 2 key words habe been stuck in my head ever since. How can I go on to draw and talk about granulation tissue which is for repair instead for the essay Q??? when it's so plainly obvious that regeneration means regenerate...create new cells!?! think I spent ~15mins on it and should have instead spent time on this other Q which I knew what to write but just didn't have the time to finish filling in enough info for it. It hurts - it pissed me off. pissed with myself, everything. a heavy price to pay- definitely - not just from Mon's.
...12 more days to go.. 3 down..holiday plans on the way...

Physio Ball

In the end, I went to the Physio Ball!!! One word: Happening! The theme's "Welcome to Down Under" and it's in this really nice ballroom in a particular suburb with this lovely fountain in front of the grand entrance. definitely a much more grand-looking place than IH ball. =P the whole place is decorated with various aussie-themed based stuff including koala bears and aussie flag. took home 2 of the koala bears hahaz. though there's free flow of alcohol drank only ard 3 glasses of diff vodkas which were so diluted.
the 2 koala bears + door gift: a de-stress ball
tink slept for ~4 hrs that nite..trying to do some last minute studying for the mid-sem exam the day after. slept through for slmost the whole afternoon den had ktv session for bdae celebration till 4am. Didn't realised that there r also ktv places with nice chinese songs here in melb . hee frankly speaking I'm not a ktv person. didn't frequent it often =P was so worn out after everything. juz checked my results for the test a while ago & glad that I did well. definitely didn't regret going to the ball if not guessed I would have missed out a lot :)
